The six subscribers and their partners won a VodacomSoccer competition, where they had to share on Twitter their videos or photographs showing exactly how they get #DerbyReady. They were joined by two supporters and their partners, who entered the competition via the Kaizer Chiefs SMS line.
The winners were then treated to an all-expenses paid Vodacom VIP Experience that included flights and transport, accommodation at the Gold Reef City Theme Park Hotel and a tour of the Kaizer Chiefs Village, hosted by Amakhosi’s former defender Nhlanhla Kubeka.
Vodacom also ensured that the winners were able to soak up the atmosphere with a walk on the pitch before kick-off and then watched the game in the Vodacom VIP Suite at FNB Stadium. They ended a memorable day with an exclusive dinner at Gold Reef City.
Jabulile Hlatshwayo, a staunch Kaizer Chiefs supporter from Cape Town sent 205 SMS’s after learning about the competition via the Kaizer Chiefs twitter platform. “I really wanted to win this experience, so I could watch the Derby live at the stadium,” said Hlatshwayo.
This was her second Derby experience, but it was Hlatshwayo’s first in a VIP suite with a Kaizer Chiefs legend. She was joined by her partner Paul Ashley, who enjoyed every moment of the VIP experience.
“My boyfriend and I love Kaizer Chiefs. We always watch games in Cape Town, but don’t get to see the Derby there. Watching the game was a dream come true.”
The festivities on the day also included the #DerbyReady Zone outside the stadium, which set the tone for the match as fans enjoyed the music, a PlayStation gaming experience, and a myriad of other games such as foosball and various fun challenges where they could win Vodacom Smartphones, headphones, portable speakers and Vodacom airtime vouchers. And they could record all of their amazing experiences with an instant photo at the Instamax photo booth.
“I like to give thanks to Vodacom and Kaizer Chiefs for this wonderful experience and look forward to the upcoming competitions, as they are all so exciting,” Hlatshwayo concluded.
