Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka and full-back Keegan Ritchie took part in a Community Social Investment (CSI) initiative ahead of the sold-out Telkom Knockout final against Mamelodi Sundowns. “It was a nice event,” reflects Ritchie. “It is heart-warming to have fun with our supporters.”

The CSI was organised by Telkom Knockout sponsor Telkom at the Matimba/Sinqobile centre for orphaned and vulnerable children in Mamelodi East.

“I am shy to dance,” Ritchie looks back on his dance moves, which formed part of the various activities during the visit, “but it was fun and it took away a lot of pressure of thinking about the cup final. Most importantly, I was happy to see us bring a smile on the face of the people in attendance.”

Maluleka agrees with his teammate: “I had a lot of fun. We enjoyed posing for pictures and the signing of autographs. It is important to get involved with the youth, because they are the leaders of tomorrow.”

The Amakhosi midfielder briefly discussed issues that youngster of today face, like a lack of access to proper education and high unemployment. “This type of initiative brings us, as professional players, closer to the real world,” concludes Maluleka.

Maluleka and Ritchie were joined by players from their Telkom Knockout final opponents Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs are about ‘Love & Peace’ and CSI project are engraved in the foundation of the Club.

The Telkom Knockout final is taking place on Reconciliation Day, Wednesday, 16 December.

The match will be played at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium (kick-off is at 18:00).
