Amakhosi defender Thomas Sweswe is determined to see the club’s recent spate of losses in league action come to an end when Chiefs face BIDVest Wits in an Absa Premiership match on Saturday evening at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

According to the defensive hard man Chiefs should not have been on the losing end in their last two league outings and a win is a must against ‘The Students’, “we are all disappointed that we have lost our last couple of games.

If you play badly and you lose its understandable but I don’t feel that we played badly, especially against Free State Stars. When you lose a game that you know you should have won and for that matter dominated it make’s the defeat all the more difficult to accept.”

According to Sweswe despite these recent set backs Chiefs still hold the keys to their title ambitions, “we need to be consistent not in the way we play but in being able to put together a run of wins. Because like I said earlier we have been playing good football.

Right now we are a couple of points off the leaders, we have two games left this year and if we win both of them we will be able to keep in touch with them. Given that we play Sundowns in our first game back in the new - year, our next three games are very important for us in our quest. Winning against Wits will put us in a position to get the ball rolling once again.”

The Zimbabwean international further explained that there is no lack of enthusiasm in the Chiefs camp ahead of their penultimate league fixture of 2010, “every one is ready to battle and fight hard on Saturday evening, we completely psyched for the game and we have the experience and professionalism to understand the importance of winning the game on Saturday.”

Sweswe though does not believe that winning the Telkom Knockout Cup meant that Chiefs attention was diverted away from their league commitments, “we well aware of which teams we would be facing and when as we knew our fixtures in advance as we went through the Cup competition, believe me when I say that we never lost focus on the title it remains our number one priority.”
