Kaizer Chiefs will be in Kimberly for a friendly match against Basotho Tigers at the Absa Stadium on the invitation of the Town Manager and the premier of Northern Cape.

Team manager Bobby Motaung says this exercise is necessary to give other supporters across the country the opportunity to see the team.

"We have basically been invited to celebrate our success for this season with the people of Northern Cape. They have met the team’s requirements hence we accepted the invitation,” says Bobby Motaung.

Motaung says the club also has an interest in the Northern Cape. “Yes in terms of development we once had a boy from Kimberly training with us for a while. It is also our aim to help in the development of football in the Northern Cape.

"The whole idea for this trip is to go to the people. We want to give supporters who have supported us through out the opportunity to see the team. And we envisage visiting other regions time permitting. We will be going to Swaziland in June as part of this mission,” Motaung says.

Motaung also says that veteran midfielder Doctor Khumalo, who will be in charge of the team, also hinted that he might do an exhibition. “The ‘old man’ wants to play and while he be the coach on the day, he indicated he could also play."
