The two sides will lock horns at Vodacom Park, Bloemfontein on Saturday, 20 June 2009. Kick off for the game is at 20h30.
“I want to wish Bafana Bafana all the best in tomorrow’s clash against Spain. The boys must know that the nation is behind them,” said the legendary that turned out for the Glamour Boys between 1976 and 1989.
His jersey number – 11, currently on the shoulders of Abia Nale, is one of the respected jerseys in the history of Kaizer Chiefs.
“It is important that when the players don the national team jersey that they be committed to the cause. On Saturday we are coming up against Spain, and I do not need to tell you that they are the no. 1 team in the world currently. They have quality players but we can match them if we do not sit back and defend. My word to Bafana Bafana is that they should go all out and attack Spain,” said the player that was known to Chiefs faithful as “Botsotso or Mgabadeli”.
He was nicknamed “Botsotso” because of his small built and “Mgabadeli” because of his galloping runs on the left wing.
“The best way to defend is to attack,” continued Teenage.
“This approach worked when we played New Zealand on Wednesday. I still feel, like everyone else, we should have scored more goals and we should have beaten Iraq on Sunday. Now we can’t wait for other teams to do us favours, we need to go all out and attack them. They might crack if we put them under pressure.”
Teenage believes that Siphiwe Tshabalala is a kind of player that Bafana Bafana need against Spain on Saturday, “We can qualify for the semi finals and I am keeping my fingers crossed. I was very impressed by the way Siphiwe (Tshabalala) expressed himself against New Zealand on Wednesday.
He like Teko Modise is very dedicated to football. Siphiwe won almost all the trophies recently at Chiefs and it is because of his talent and the way he has dedicated himself to his game. I have no doubt that he and Teko will go far in football,” he said.
The former Kaizer Chiefs winger also wished the new coach Vladimir Vermezovic all the best in the upcoming season, “It is very important that the new coach establishes a sound relationship with the players. Chiefs players in the past and current perform when they are happy.
I have not met the new coach or seen his coaching style but he is lucky to arrive at Chiefs, as there is a lot of talent there on display. He is working under Mr. Kaizer Motaung who has built the Club to the giant it is today. I wish him and all the boys all the best in the new season,” he concluded.
Teenage Dladla upon his retirement in 1989 became an assistant coach to Augosto Palacious in 1990, assistant coach to Jeff Butler and later Sergio Dos Santos in 1993.
