“I would like to thank the league and my Club for this honour,” Willard Katsande reflected after being selected as the Absa Premiership Player of the Month for January.
Then, he adds: “I could not have achieved this without the help of my teammates.”
Katsande took home the trophy and a whopping R5 000.
The award was handed over to the Kaizer Chiefs midfielder at the PSL headquarters on Wednesday.
The Zimbabwean was also asked some questions by journalists present. About the recent run of form, Katsande commented: “The past few games haven't gone our way, and we acknowledged that. All we want to do is to win the remaining games. We are a big team and expectations are high. We have been working hard in training and we just want to enjoy the games that are left.”
About the upcoming match in the lowveld of Mpumalanga against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Tuesday, 12 April, he said: “The international break helped us to regroup. We worked on team building. We are much sharper now and ready for our next game.”
“We focus on the here and now,” Katsande reacted about a question about the team’s likely league finish. “We experienced a rough patch, but that’s now water under the bridge. We will lift ourselves and work hard in the next game.”
