“Some people say that this season was a movie,” Kaizer Chiefs Chairman Kaizer Motaung said at the Club’s awards function on Wednesday evening.
“However, I felt it was more of a campaign, which started with pre-season in Port Elizabeth. “It has been one of the most remarkable seasons in the history of our Club. It was an exciting journey.”
Motaung also raved about Amakhosi’s final game against Chippa United in the city where it all began with pre-season: “That was a unique match. I never saw an away team dominating the stadium with their supporters like that. At least 90 percent of the spectators were Chiefs supporters. We were the home team away from home.”
The Chiefs Chairman also complimented the squad for a fabulous season in which many records were broken, including points booked (69) since the PSL moved to 16 clubs in 2002.
“It was a very special season,” Motaung reflected. “We broke all kinds of records. It was a great display from the team. Congratulations also to Stuart Baxter for his stewardship.”
Later on the evening, the Chiefs Chairman handed to Baxter the Chairman’s Award for his excellent work since joining the Club as the coach in 2012.
“The class of 2014/2015 made a huge contribution to our history,” Motaung continued. “Your name is going to be in the history of the Kaizer Chiefs Brand. The epitome of this team is team work. What’s left now is to break our own records, which is a huge challenge and we have to prepare for this. When it’s your time, use the opportunity to make a statement. The journey continues.”
