The Christmas break could not have come sooner for midfielder Mandla Masango who looked more like a player that had recaptured the form that helped the team win the Telkom Knockout early in 2010.
In that year Bullet, as Masango is affectionately known, took his game to another level and came close being voted as a Player of the Tournament as he scored in both semi and final to inspire the Glamour Boys to the trophy win.
He was released early in November by the Technical Team to be with the U23 and when he returned against Free State Stars he showed why he is one of the most talked about young players in the country. On that night he ran circles around Stars defence creating an equaliser for Sthembiso Ngcobo before Lincoln Zvasiya grabbed a dramatic winner. He was at his best again at Moses Mabhida Stadium as Chiefs shared the spoils with AmaZulu.
“There is room for improvement, as a player I am aiming high as a player. I am going to keep working hard and reach my full potential. I want to help the team win things. The badge in front is more important than the name at the back. We want to win things this season and that inspire me to push even harder,” said the player.
Masango told kaizerchiefs.com that he was happy to play everywhere the Coach deploys him. “I prefer to play anywhere where the coach wants me. I am a versatile player and I can adapt in different situations and most importantly help the team win. Whenever the chance is given for me to play I will grab it with both hands,” said Masango.
