“We appreciate the support we received this season and we are looking forward to a good turnout this Saturday,” said captain Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala, who spoke at the Open Media Day held at Chiefs Village on Wednesday. “The supporters are the backbone of the Club and their support has been consistent through and through.”

Amakhosi welcome Chippa United at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon, 21 May (kick-off is at 15:00).

“We still play for finishing in third or fourth position,” emphasised ‘Shabba’ ahead of the mouth-watering clash against Chippa on Saturday. “We are professionals and we have to respect the supporters and our badge.”

Chiefs occupy at present fourth position on the log and a win will stand the Glamour Boys a chance to move above Platinum Stars in case they draw or lose on Saturday.

“Chippa are a good side,” Tshabalala comments, “and they too have something to play for, so it is going to be an interesting match for both teams.”

‘Shabba’ was today presented with a specially made Gold & Black jersey in honour of reaching the milestone of 300 official appearances in Chiefs colours.

“I am grateful,” the Amakhosi captain responded upon receiving the jersey. “I wanted to play for Chiefs from an early age - I always dreamt of playing for the Club and I am now living a dream. All glory goes to God, the Club and my teammates for this accolade.”

“The focus is now on Chippa,” continued ‘Shabba’ about the final match of the 2015/16 Absa Premiership season: “We are going out there for the three points. We want to close the season on a high by winning this match.”

Tickets for the match between Chiefs and Chippa are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide at R40.
