The Glamour Boys took time on Wednesday, 29 May 2013 to visit main sponsors’, Vodacom at their HQ in Vodaworld, Midrand.
The visit to the cellular giant operator was part of the Trophy Parade on a double deck open bus that started on Tuesday morning through Johannesburg and Soweto.
The atmosphere at Vodaworld was exhilarating with the staff flying gold and black flags waiting for the Absa Premiership and Nedbank Cup holders in 2013. The squad took pictures with the staff and signed autographs before having lunch with the members of the Management.
Brand Manager, Sponsorships Rowen Gangulu congratulated the Glamour Boys on the job well done; “We at Vodacom are very proud to have contributed in some way towards Chiefs winning the ‘cup double’.
“We are honoured to be associated with a team and brand such as Kaizer Chiefs, a team that has confirmed its status amongst the game’s greatest.
“We salute you as the giants of South African football and we hope that you will replicate this incredible performance beyond the 2012/2013 season,” added Gangulu.
Marketing Director Jessica Motaung said the visit to Vodacom was important; “It was important for us to visit Vodacom as our main sponsors and thank them for their support not only this season but throughout the years.
The relationship between the Club and Vodacom has grown in leaps and bounds in the past couple of years. This past season we were able to hold roadshows and interact with the supporters in almost all the provinces.
“It is through these roadshows that we have been able to interact with the supporters and take the brand to the people, Vodacom made this possible and we are grateful,” added Motaung.
Meanwhile earlier in the day the Trophy Parade made a stopover at Nike Headquarters in Midrand where the staff had an opportunity to mingle with the whole squad.
Managing Director at Nike, Davide Cardarelli welcomed the team led by Marketing Director Jessica Motaung, Head Coach Stuart Baxter and Captain Itumeleng Khune congratulated the team on winning the double.
“These are great moments; our relationship with Kaizer Chiefs is like a marriage and this marriage at this moment is energetic. Our relationship goes beyond sponsorship and product.
“We are also proud that the Club has decided to use our facility in Soweto, Nike Centre as a training facility for the youth. Congratulations to you and we hope that you will conquer again next season,” added Cardarelli.
