The Glamour Boys will be hoping to continue where they left off against Black Leopards on Wednesday when they visit Bidvest Wits at Mbombela Stadium on Monday, 24 September 2012.
The corresponding fixture last season ended in a draw after Sibusiso Vilakazi controversially cancelled Bernard Parker’s early strike denting Chiefs chances to win the title.
The reconstructed Amakhosi are the force to be reckoned with this season with 10 points after four games and they will want to consolidate their top position on top of the Premiership this evening.
Chiefs have an edge on this fixture having won 25 times out of Wits 10 win in 52 times the two sides have met since 1985. In 27 PSL matches Chiefs have won 15 matches against Students losing only twice.
The match is also set to give former Chiefs favourite Tinashe Nengomasha an opportunity to come face to face with his former teammates for the first time after joining Bidvest Wits in June this year.
Nengomasha spent a decade at Chiefs becoming one of the best imports the Club has brought but will have to be at his best to push aside his former partner in the midfield, Reneilwe Letsholonyane.
Bernard Parker who has been on top form scoring five goals in four games will come face to face with returnee, Aaron Mokoena. The two played with each other in the national team.
The same can be said about Siphiwe Tshabalala who is expected to come up against his former Bafana Bafana teammate Bryce Moon.
Tefu Mashamaite who was replaced due to head injury towards the end of second half during the midweek game against Black Leopards is expected to be fit to meet his former teammates.
Josta Dladla a Wits juniors graduate returned to the team against Black Leopards and will be hoping to once again put one against his former side.
The game has generated lot of interest from the local fans who are expected to fill the stadium this evening. Chiefs in conjuction with main sponsors were at work on Sunday and Monday (Heritage Day) hosting roadshows around Nelspruit.
Kaizer Chiefs fans sporting colourful makarapas, gold and black jerseys and Club’s regalia turned out in numbers and demonstrated the support for Head Coach, Stuart Baxter, Captain Itumeleng Khune and the team.
