Siyathemba Tyatha from Nqeleni, just outside Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, is now a Durban CBD resident. He was on Wednesday the most important guest at the match between Kaizer Chiefs and Baroka FC, which was staged at Amakhosi’s home away from home, the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

All this happened because Tyatha entered the Kaizer Chiefs and KC Mobile competition known as the ‘KCCouch’. One lucky winner, who can be joined by three friends, is selected and given the VIP treatment by the club. A special seat is placed on the east side of the pitch for the Amakhosi faithful to enjoy the game.

Nyatha, who was selected from thousands of entrants was joined by three friends, Siya Mtshali, Bonginkosi Ndovela and Siyabonga Twala. They all sat on the KC Couch for the duration of the match and could not stop smiling as they were seen by millions of viewers, who watched the game on TV.

“I normally work as a security guard at the stadium when there are matches,” Nyatha reacts, “but when I saw the competition, I decided to try my luck and could not believe it when I received the call informing me that I had won.”

“Sitting so close to the action and cheering the boys on was surreal for all of us – added to the unbelievable experience was the VIP treatment we received during halftime in the suites. I will cherish this moment for as long as I live,” he added.

Nyatha says that he sent over 50 SMSs to 33044 from when the competition started. He did not despair or give up hope when he did not win during Amakhosi’s first game in Durban on 15 October against Ajax Cape Town.

“Shaking hands with Lorenzo Gordinho, Siphiwe Tshabala and Tsepo Masilela was another special moment for us and it felt good to be the envy of so many people in the country,” he concluded.

The ‘KCCouch’ competition runs until 16 February 2017, two days before the Phefeni Glamour Boys take on Highlands Park in the last of the three home league matches billed for Durban this season.

To stand a chance, supporters are urged to send KCCouch to 33044 and get to rub shoulders with the players and enjoy Amakhosi’s warm hospitality.
