Absa PREMIERSHIP 2013/14 Season

AmaZulu v Kaizer Chiefs

Moses Mabhida Stadium

Sunday 22 December 2013

15h00 kick-off

The Amakhosi have recorded their fifth successive league win on Thursday when they defeated Golden Arrows 1-0 away.

Coach Baxter looks ahead of the game against AmaZulu as a different and a new ball game.

AmaZulu will look to end Kaizer Chiefs’s winning run in the Absa Premiership when the teams meet at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, 22 December 2013, kick-off at 15h00.

"We will be treating this one like a Cup final. We have the season so far behind us and a break in front of us. This is one of the games. The schedule has been heavy and I am glad the guys have done well so far," said Baxter.

Usuthu are placed fifth on the Absa Premiership log with 20 points from 14 matches. "Amazulu are on a good run. I am sure their confidence is high. This is going to be a different ball game.

We will go into the game with all our guns blazing and see how far will go," Baxter was speaking after taking his charges through a pre-match training.

The Soweto side has picked up 10 points from their six away matches so far this season. The Amakhosi are placed first on the Absa Premiership log with 27 points from 13 matches.

"The league is a marathon and not a sprint. We do debriefs after each game but we don't analyse where we are, 2nd or 3rd. What matters will be the last kick of the last game when the medals are handed out. At the moment we are competing and learning lessons as we go on with the fixtures," commented Baxter

In head-to-head stats, AmaZulu and Chiefs have met in 48 league matches since 1985. The Amakhosi boast 29 victories compared to just seven for Usuthu, while 12 matches have been drawn.

"It doesn't mean if you beat a team last season, you will automatically do the same this season. This is another occasion. We have to beat them this time, they have a new Coach and new players," said Baxter.

On his personnel, "Reneilwe Letsholanyane has picked up a nasty knock to his knee and there's no chance of him playing tomorrow.

George Lebese will play some part in this game after missing the Arrows game. There will be other changes due to the injury to 'Yeye' and some will be a rotation of the Team. We will field a motivated Team, with the adrenalin pumping to win the game," commented Baxter.
