Platinum Stars v Kaizer Chiefs

Venue: Royal Bafokeng Stadium

Date: Wednesday 12 March 2014

Platinum Stars will look to break their winless streak in the Absa Premiership against log leaders Kaizer Chiefs when the two teams meet on Wednesday evening.

Coach Baxter was very optimistic in his preview of the much anticipated fixture,

"We've said all the games are vital in their own way. We will not be drifted away because of the derby. The issue of over loading the players is a matter that the Technical Staff will have to deal with. We have to spread the load equally across the squad," said Baxter.

"To us every game is vital. We are working on a tight schedule and it is difficult to assess the players for their readiness. Bernard Parker is doubtful and Itu (Khune) is still out. It is difficult to get the guys 100% fit, the rain has not made things easy too," commented Baxter.

In head-to-head stats, Stars and Chiefs have met in 21 league matches since 2003/04. The Amakhosi have claimed nine wins compared to three for Dikwena, while nine matches have been drawn.

"We can monitor them better than the CAF opponents. Platinum Stars have proven to be a stable team. They also play nice football and they are an attacking team. We are under no illusion to disrespect any of our opponents. We will be foolish to disrespect the team that finished 2nd last season and has already won two trophies this season," commented Baxter.

When the two teams met earlier this season, the Amakhosi won 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Parker and Musona.

Kickoff for the game is at 19:30.
