ABSA PREMIERSHIP 2013/14 Season

Kaizer Chiefs v Ajax Cape Town

Peter Mokaba Stadium

Wednesday 19 March 2014

19h30 kick-off

Coach Stuart Baxter has called on his troops to show the same commitment they demonstrated against their archrivals last Saturday. The rampant Amakhosi conquered Orlando Pirates in their last league game, and Baxter is wary of the change of gear from the hyped up Derby.

"It is a matter of keeping the momentum. We cannot remove our foot from the pedal. To us the most important game is the next game. We won the 'war' on the weekend but the battle rages on," said Baxter after taking his lads through their prematch preparations.

In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Ajax have met in 29 league matches since 1999/2000. The Amakhosi have 11 wins compared to nine for the Urban Warriors, while nine matches have been drawn.

"They are tactically a good Team. They have clever players that are tactically smart. We have to watch them carefully while we make sure that we maintain our plan to have a full go at them. They come at you very fast but we will be able to deal with their forays," commented Baxter.

On his players,

"Bernard Parker is out on one match suspension after accumulating 4 yellow cards. Khune is still out with injury. We will have some changes in the Team. The rest of the guys are ready for tomorrow," said Baxter.

"Itu (Khune) saw the Dr. yesterday. He is making steady progress. We are going to keep him in the boot for another week, we'll get him out of the boot and he will start jogging," reported Team Physio, Dave Milner.

The Amakhosi are placed first on the Absa Premiership log with 46 points from 21 matches.

The Urban Warriors are placed 10th on the Absa Premiership log with 28 points from 22 matches.
