CAF Champions League 2nd Leg of the 2nd Round

Kaizer Chiefs (0) v AS Vita Club (3)

Saturday, 29th March 2014

FNB Stadium

Kickoff 19:00

Kaizer Chiefs are faced with a mammoth task of overturning a 3 – 0 shortfall when they tackle AS Vita Club from Kinshasa, in DRC. At stake is a passage to the group stages of the Orange CAF Champions League.

The rotation system,

“We rotated the whole Team in the Nedbank Cup midweek; we were trying to recuperate the players after a hectic schedule. We wanted to get them fresh. On Saturday we want to select a Team that will be able to have a go at our opponents in what is going to be a difficult game,”

Orlando Pirates factor,

“I don’t think anybody in the squad reflects on what Pirates did. SA Football is proud of what Pirates did. As Chiefs we have ambitions to go as far as we can in every tournament. We want to go as far as we can in this tournament because we are the Champions of SA at the moment. We want to do the best we can to reflect SA football in a positive way. If we don’t go through it will be a massive disappointment for everybody.”

Approach,

“A goal for them kills the tie in theory, but in practice it doesn’t because we can also score five goals. We must have a good defensive shape and when we have the ball we have to be active and move the ball quickly and be offensive. We lost because they created four and took three and we created five chances and we scored nil in Kinshasa. We have to bring some nerves into the game. After ten to fifteen minutes they face a defeat. We have an opportunity when they get on the ball because they overindulge themselves with the ball,”

The supporters,

“It would have been easier to play at one of the smaller stadiums but we are comfortable at FNB. It is important that we make the stadium seem like place different for them. They must feel that they are in Johannesburg not in DRC and we have to bring that to bear. I hope the supporters will pitch for us and be the 12th man and help us to push. The supporters understand what we want and if they don’t pitch we have to do the work on the pitch and make AS Vita Club feel that they are in Johannesburg by the way we play on the pitch,”

“If they turn this around they will be talked about for many years to come,”

The tickets are available on sale at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide at R40.
