Absa PREMIERSHIP

Kaizer Chiefs v Free State Stars

Peter Mokaba Stadium

Wednesday 30 April 2014

19h30 kick-off

Kaizer Chiefs will be hosting Free State Stars in an Absa Premiership match at Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday, 30 April 2014.

Chiefs played to just their second goalless draw of the season when they were held 0-0 away by Bidvest Wits in their last outing. The Soweto giants have claimed 29 points from their 13 home matches so far this season.

Coach Stuart Baxter told kaizerchiefs.com that his side is facing two challenges when they face Free State Stars on Wednesday,

“We have two challenges ahead of this game. One, we have to put the squad back together in the next 36 hours before the game,” Baxter was referring to the Teams that travelled to Ivory Coast and the Team that was left behind on weekend.

“Secondly, we are playing a side that is desperate for points and somewhat coming to us with nothing much to lose. They will be coming at us with their guns blazing and throwing everything at us,” said Baxter before his Team left for Polokwane on Tuesday morning.

“We will prepare the Team that we think is capable to win the game. We have Maluleka and Nkosi to examine after they returned with an assortment of injuries from Ivory Coast. The rest of the lads are available for selection. We will be ready to play tomorrow (Wednesday) night,” commented Baxter.

The Amakhosi are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with 56 points from 27 matches. Ea Lla Koto are placed 15th on the Absa Premiership log with 24 points from 27 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Stars have met in 28 league matches since 1996. The Amakhosi have 18 wins compared to three for Ea Lla Koto, while seven matches have been drawn. Chiefs have won 10 of their 14 home matches against Stars, suffering just one defeat in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Amakhosi cruised to a 2-0 away win thanks to goals from Nkosi and Tshabalala.

Tickets for the game are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers at R40 for adults. Gates will be opened at 16:30 and kickoff for the match is at 19:30.
