Kaizer Chiefs travel to the ‘Mother City’ on Tuesday to play Ajax Cape Town in the ABSA Premiership league encounter. The Amakhosi will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to five games in the league after recording two draws and two wins in their last four games.

Coach Stuart Baxter expressed a cautious optimism as he looked ahead of the clash on Tuesday night;

“Sometimes they play very good football. They have the points so far in the league but they are not happy with their log position. Ajax have done well in many games”

The Chiefs mentor warned his charges to do the job on the field and forget that they are untouchable and cannot lose;

“It is important to go out there and do the job. It will be folly of us to think that we are untouchable and we can’t lose. They beat us there last season (3-1).”

On the status his personnel, Baxter said;

“We have Willard Katsande out with four yellow cards which means we have to reshuffle the pack there (midfield). Knowledge Musona is receiving treatment for the shoulder injury while Kaizer Motaung JNR is still troubled by the knee injury. The mood in the camp is good and we are all looking forward to the trip to Ajax.”

Both teams go into the game at the backdrop of a draw and win in their last two games. Chiefs beat Platinum Stars (2-1) and played to a 1-all draw against their archrivals, Orlando Pirates. Ajax beat Free State Stars (1-0) and played to a 0-0 stalemate against TUKS.

In the past two PSL seasons, Chiefs and Ajax have produced home and away victories against each other. In 2011/12 season Chiefs walloped Ajax 2-0 in the first round at home and Ajax reversed the score line by beating Chiefs 2-1 in Cape Town. In 2012/13 season Chiefs brushed aside Ajax at home by a 3-0 drubbing and Ajax retaliated with a 3-1 surprise win over the Amakhosi in Cape Town.

Gates open at 17:00 for the 19:30 kickoff. Tickets range from R40 to R80 at Computicket and Checkers/Shoprite nationwide.
