Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns will be meeting for the 55th time on Wednesday, 22 August 2012 in the league since 1985. The Glamour Boys of Phefeni have claimed 15 wins from home matches against Mamelodi Sundowns losing just four times from 27 matches.

The game will kickoff at 19:30.

There has been expected hype around this game and more over because the two sides met in the MTN8 early this month, with Sundowns getting the better of the Soweto Giants in that particular game.

The Glamour Boys have bounced back since that uncharacteristic away trip and responded with an explosive start in their league campaign, giving the usually resilient AmaZulu a 6-0 drubbing in their own backyard.

They were able to complete a double over Mamelodi Sundowns last season with Arthur Bartman becoming a hero when the two sides met at Loftus. Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane came on as a substitute to inspire the Glamour Boys to a 2-0 win at the Calabash oin the second encounter at home.

Bartman commented speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday morning; “Games against Mamelodi Sundowns are always massive and draw a lot of interest from the fans. We did well against them last season beating them twice in the league, but the results of last season will have no bearing on the game on Wednesday”.

Letsholonyane was again on form despite the Glamour Boys losing the MTN8 encounter and scored the consolation goal at Loftus Versfeld; “We were all down after the game as we went there with one objective: to win the game.

“We have put that game behind us and now we’re focused on the upcoming game on Wednesday. Everyone associated with the Club is aware how big this game is and we have worked very hard to ensure that we keep the momentum following the game against AmaZulu,” said the midfield maestro.

Sundowns were in action over the weekend while the Amakhosi were inactive, but Bartman insisted that this will not affect the team; “We have been training and from a conditioning point of view, we are up to the task.” added Bartman.
