Chiefs lost against SuperSport United on Wednesday, another Pretoria based side and a desperate to return to winning ways at the expense of Sundowns this Sunday.
Matches over the two sides in the past two decades have provided entertainment on both set of fans. The 80s and 90s provided more quality though with the likes of Doctor Khumalo, current assistant, Donald Khuse, Chippa Molatedi locking horns against the likes of current assistant coach at Sundowns, Jazzy Queen Legodi, Harris Cheou, Ernest Chirwali (Mtawali).
There were also fierce battles early in this century with the likes of Mohammed Ouseb battling it out with the likes of Daniel Mudau.
Bernard Parker is positive that Chiefs will turn the corner this coming Sunday; “It is a different ball game come Sunday. We are aware of what Mamelodi Sundowns is all about but we are focusing on our preparations and we are positive of coming back home with a positive result.
Chiefs who have lost the services of Dominic Isaacs will welcome back tough as teak defender, Thomas ‘Uyindoda/Rambo’ Sweswe. Sweswe will be hoping to keep his homeboy, Nyasha Moshikwi under check.
Although the Glamour Boys came off second best on their last visit to the capital city; In head to head stats, Chiefs and Sundowns have met 52 times in the league since 1985 with the Glamour Boys having an edge having won 20 games to Sundowns 16 matches, while 15 matches have ended in draws.
Chiefs will be banking on the likes of Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala, Lehlohonolo ‘Major’ Majoro, Bernard Parker and the ‘General’, Tinashe Nengomasha to rise to the occasion.
