AmaZulu (0) 1 (Madondo 90+4)
Kaizer Chiefs (0) 4 (Nkosi 55 86, Musona 61, Parker 80)
Kaizer Chiefs has gone six consecutive league games without a loss. The Amakhosi went into the league festive break, sitting pretty on top of the log with 30 points from 14 games. The winning streak, six on the trot, is first for Chiefs in the last 14years, all in the PSL era.
Baxter expressed delight after the show of power as demonstrated by his charges against Amazulu,
"This was a wonderful game. The supporters were treated to good football. I think the first half was one of the good football that SA has ever seen. The two teams had a strategy and wanted to play. That was a good football match to watch," said Baxter after the 4 - 1 demolishing job over Usuthu.
"We changed things a bit in the second half. Willard was running too close and the referee was getting impatient with him. We brought in Siyabonga who moved more forward than what Willard and Josta were doing. He got into the pockets of spaces very well. It became a blessing in disguise to bring Siyabonga in as he changed the game and scored the brace. We gave them problems all the way. Make no mistake, we played a good side and a very organised team. Craig (Rosslee) has done wonders with his team. I am delighted with the results," commented Baxter.
Chiefs have been criticised for starting the season slow and labeled a shadow of Reclaiming the Glory Team that won the league and Cup double last season,
"People will give their opinions left, right and centre. As a Coach you cannot react to all the opinions, once you do that you will struggle to focus on what you believe in. If the opinions were bad as they were then, probably they will be as good now. We remain focused, facing challenges and we try to solve them. We work hard in training," said Baxter.
Kingston Nkhatha has been on the receiving end of the boo brigade in recent times. And as the saying goes the best revenge to your critics is a good performance. Kingston did just that and was rewarded with the 'Man of the Match' after the game,
"Kingstone worked his socks off. He may not have been playing well on the ball. Once we started playing him in the right spaces, he started to play. He was awesome. He will play badly like everybody else and have a bad shot here and there. It shows that if the supporters stick with a player, the player gets motivated. Kingston is a wonderful professional," Baxter.
"To the supporters and everybody I hope winning six in a row will be a good Christmas present from their Team. Merry Christmas and a peaceful and safe 2014. We hope to meet everybody in the new year," concludes Baxter.
