Kaizer Chiefs: (1) 1 (Parker 25)

SuperSport United: (0) 0

The Amakhosi has done it again, this time they fought hard to clinch a narrow victory against the side that Coach Stuart Baxter describes as a mobile SuperSport United.

Baxter was happy to win his 9th game in the row in the league this season, but expressed dissatisfaction at the way his lads approached the game especially in the first half,

"Watching our first half you wouldn't have said we are title favourites, we wouldn't have said the same as well. We didn't play ball as we know we could. We created chances that we should have buried, but I guess we are not abundantly blessed with scoring goals. If you think of it, we are going into Africa and we will be faced with the teams that we should go past if we use the chances that we get," lamented Baxter.

"We have a lot of work to do. We must work harder. We were on the back foot in the first half. We were dominated by a mobile SuperSport United. The irony of it is that even though they played well in the first half ,they didn't create the most goal scoring chances compared to us. At some point I saw they had lost a belief that they can break us down. And if you don't play well you end up having to defend all the time," said Baxter.

"We are obviously motivated by winning all of the three games we played since the start of the year. We earlier said that we would like to take the minimum of 5 to 6 points out of our games against Sundowns, Swallows and SuperSport but now I am delighted that we collected the maximum points from the three games. We didn't concede a goal in those three wins which shows that we are resilient and the lads are working hard," commented Baxter.

"Even though we are delighted with the win, we will go back to the drawing board. We didn't do the basics tonight. We lacked the structure and intention. We let ourselves be under pressure by losing the ball uncharacteristically. We lost the ball too much. Two things that we lacked mostly tonight are the lack of bravery and fighting to play our own game. When we got the game in our control we didn't bury the game by scoring more inviting goals," said Baxter.

Kgotso Moleko making his first appearance in 2013/14 PSL season was red carded in the 8th minute of the referee's optional time.

Chiefs will switch gear to their CAF encounter against Black Africa of Namibia. The game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 8th February 2014, at FNB Stadium. Kickoff is at 20:00.
