Kaizer Chiefs (1) 3 (Parker 43’, Musona 71’, Buchanan OG 89’) - 0 Bloemfontein Celtic
Coach Baxter was not entirely happy with his Team’s performance on Wednesday night. Baxter was speaking at the post match press conference after his side brushed aside the enthusiastic Bloemfontein Celtic. The score was 3 – 0 after the thrilling encounter at the FNB Stadium.
“Celtic played well with the ball. They looked like they wanted to put the ball behind our back four. We gambled a little bit, but I thought in the first half our midfield played far too deep. The backline did not make us compact and that was giving us problems because we were giving them the game they really wanted. They kept possession of the ball very well, played the balls to their wide players and also behind our fullbacks,” said Baxter.
“I was not happy with a lot of things but was happy with certain passage of play and of course the result. In the 2nd half we had our midfield playing a little bit higher. They kept enough players at the back to negate the real quality of transition. They had to come to us and take a little chance. It showed we have a lot of work to do, at least we won 3 – 0 than if we were consistently losing the game,” continued Baxter.
“As I said earlier I was happy with the passage of play. We played some decent football but we were not dangerous and we were inconsistent. Where we played well we really played well. Mtsweni (Simphiwe) played well in place of Tsepo Masilela. The boy was playing in the Soweto league eight months ago and I think he has done well,” said Baxter.
