CAF Champions League
Kaizer Chiefs (4)3-0 Liga Desportiva Muçulmana de Maputo (7-0 Aggregate Score)
Coach Stuart Baxter expressed excitement at the way his Team responded to the challenge of going into the game leading by 4-0 from the 1st Leg. Baxter hailed his players for responding to the different approach they employed in Maputo.
"Our players remained professional in this game. The opposition tried to play, open up and play a passing game," said Baxter.
"It was a difficult trip considering the players had to be motivated and keep the concentration. We had to make up our own motivation and concentration going into the game leading by 4-0," commented Baxter.
We changed the way we normally play as we wanted to make this a test. We played with the 3 centre backs in case we want to use that when we are on the road in the rest of Africa . Our plan worked perfectly," continued Baxter.
"We created a lot of chances again. We were aggressive and played properly. We changed our players and made substitutions during the game which changed our level of approach. We could have scored more goals," commented Baxter.
"Ask a big Club anywhere in the World about their ambition and the answer will be the same. We are an ambitious Club. Like other big Clubs we go into each tournament to win," said a visibly happy Baxter.
The convincing win has paved the way for the Glamour Boys to the 2nd Round of the CAF Champions League. The 2nd Round will be played on home and away format during the weekend of 21-23 March & 28-30 March 2014.
