Coach Stuart Baxter recorded his first Derby win in the league against Orlando Pirates. The Glamour Boys showed courage and determination throughout the entertaining sold out encounter.

Remarkably, Willard Katsande scored his first goal since arriving at the Amakhosi in 2011. Katsande connected with a 61st minute header from a fine corner kick by Tshabalala.

Baxter expressed delight and praised his charges for the gallant display and good football.

On the overall performance of his Team

"Pirates played very well in the first half. They created a few chances and got us worried at times. At halftime we spoke about going on attack and improving our transition play. I am very happy with the results and proud of the guys, I think they really played well today," commented Baxter.

On the tight schedule

"We are going to Polokwane and then to RDC. We will continue with the rotation of the players without creating an imbalance in the squad. I prefer to play at home than travelling, we've had enough of that now. The win today augers well for the next game. A defeat in any game puts pressure on the next game," said Baxter.

On Katsande' fine display

"I've said before, my first week in the Team, I watched Katsande and told Doctor Khumalo that he can't play for us because he is reckless. Willard has worked his socks off and is well worth the Man of the Match today and has played well for us in many other games. He played one of his best games today," commented Baxter.

On the goal

"We have scored three goals from corner kicks this season. At Platinum Stars on Wednesday we hit the cross bar from the same situation. It is a rehearsed set play and we work hard on that," said Baxter.

On Pieterse deputising for the injured Khune

"Reyaad beat himself hard with the second goal on Wednesday. He has good character. Dennis Rudel has worked well with him. He is a strong character. We don't have enough training sessions in this schedule but he has worked hard with Rudel to be in top shape," said Baxter.

On Gould

"It's been difficult in a tight schedule, you don't want to break your centre back. The centre backs need games to play together. In a tight schedule you can't play the same team all the time but I think Morgan and Tefu did well today," said Baxter.

On the celebration of his Team

"The celebration was a response to a Derby. We have played draws in the past and I was fearing that my players might choke again today. Pirates are a threat in the league and so is Sundowns, that's why I was delighted and I think everybody associated with Chiefs is happy with this win," said Baxter.
