FC Buffalo (1) 1 (Mtsweni o.g. 45’)

Kaizer Chiefs played to a hard fought victory to progress to the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup when they beat FC Buffalo 2-1 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Wednesday night.

Coach Baxter expressed mixed feelings about his Team's performance, though he was happy to go through to the next round, he was slightly disappointed with some of the elements from the individual players' performance;

Overall view

"It was always going to be a challenge after travelling from Congo on the weekend. On paper they came to the game as a weak Team, but like any other Team that plays against us they lifted their game. I am happy that we are in the next round of the competition."

Performances

"We gave some of the players an opportunity to play. It happens in games like this that the players will have a tendency that they have more time in the game. Because of that, slow thought processing the opponent can become faster than you in application."

The rotation system

"Some of the lads have played 18 games in two months. You have to be careful when you deal with the loading of the players. It takes a mental strain and every day you become in a match mode. It is also inhuman to play the regular guys in each and every game."

The selected players

“I thought some of the players will raise their hands, but I was disappointed with some individual performances. They were cosmetic and sloppy which was disappointing while others did a decent job though."

Coach Baxter was responding to Media questions at the Post Match Press Conference.
