Polokwane City (0) 0
Kaizer Chiefs (1) 2 (Lebese 10’, Maluleka 73’)
Kaizer Chiefs got back to winning ways in the Absa Premiership when they beat Polokwane City 2-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday night.
Coach Baxter was happy with the win and the display of good work ethic from his troops:
"The lads performed very well tonight. The pitch was difficult and slick. The easiest thing to do was to do what City did, getting the ball forward and hoping for a break. Our lads kept their composure and kept the ball very well,"
Creating many chances:
"I was not happy that we created so many chances but didn't convert to kill the game early. Our chances to goal ratio is still a concern. We will keep on working on that. We should have buried the game early on,"
A look at the players:
"The guys are working hard. Kingston was kicked all over the show but he continued to work hard. When 'Killer' (Mphela) came on he gave us a different angle and his match fitness is coming up slowly because we do not have much time to practice. 'Killer' will come handy. Maluleka performed well tonight. His past two games gave us a balance. He is getting better. Lebese is working hard. I like it when players are getting serious about their work," added Baxter
Chiefs still trail Mamelodi Sundowns by three points after they beat Mpumalanga Black Aces also on Wednesday night. Chiefs still has a game in hand.
