Kaizer Chiefs 1 Rusike (86) 2 ASEC Mimosas (36) Zagbayou Eurand (90) Boua Koffi Davy

Kaizer Chiefs will travel to Abidjan on Sunday with a deficit of one goal following their 1 - 2 loss to the Ivorians, ASEC Mimosas.

The one-time CAF Champions League Cup winners, ASEC Mimosas didn't splash out the quality of football as expected. They instead applied 'time wasting' tactics by duping the referee with falling all over the pitch. The strategy that earned them a 1 - 2 win in Soweto.

The question of fielding what Media has termed B-Team:

“I still think we fielded a strong enough team. The bubbly pitch and the opponent's time wasting antics tactically affected the flowing football that we wanted to play."

The Team is criticised for lackluster performance:

“It depends what you mean when you say the team didn’t show up today. It is easy to crucify people in defeat and put them on the pedestal in victory. That is not football."

On the Team selections:

“It was not a full strength team, I will admit that, but it was a good enough team to come here and do the job."

On the question of his Team's absence from the game:

“I don’t think you’ve got any idea what’s like playing against a team that’s throwing themselves on the ground. I call that cheating. If you want to lambast players who worked their socks off, you have to look at the tactical conditions for the match. What I don't like is lack of endeavour, passion and commitment from my players, and I told them in the change room."

On the goals conceded:

“In certain aspects you could be right to say the Team didn't show up, like in their winning goal, because that was a disaster. But you can’t say we didn't show up. So this ‘throw away’ comments are unnecessary."

Baxter also revealed that the approach to the 2nd leg game will be the same as in the 1st leg. We will select the Team that we think will be strong to play the game. We take into a considering that we will be travelling 8-hour trip and are expected to play in the league game in Polokwane after 48 hours of returning from the Ivory Coast.

The winner over the two legs progresses to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
