TKO Semifinal

Kaizer Chiefs 0 - 1 (Semenya 52) Platinum Stars

Platinum Stars stars inflicted pain when they knocked the Amakhosi out by a single goal in the semifinal of the TKO played at FNB Stadium on 23rd November 2013.

"We lacked composure, our final pass and finishing was just not good enough. In the first half we raided their goalmouth but couldn't kill the game. In the second half I thought we were going to build up from where we left off in the first half.

We didn't do well at critical phases of the match. We failed to deal with the second ball. They shot at goal and created a set play through which we conceded what I thought was a soft goal in the 52nd minute.

The rationale of bringing Erick Mathoho in the last minute of the game was to go route one and to get Parker, Nkhatha and Knowledge to feed from him. I was tired to see us wasting time ourselves. It took long to bring him on and I don't think we managed to get any ball to Erick, " lamented Coach Baxter.

"Platinum Stars can play well from deep and catch you on counter attack. We did not show hunger and urgency that we needed in a knockout game to enable us to go to the final. Congratulations to Platinum Stars for reaching the final.

We have not been successful to deal with the past glory. We have to find out where our strength lies and apply that. Tonight I needed more passion, desire and urgency which was not there.

It doesn't matter who you play, you have took look at yourself first. I will take the responsibility for the results. The players must take the responsibility for making sure they give 110% best performance in the game.

Everybody can lose a game but you have to say to yourself that I gave it my all, concentrated, focused and etc. That is the sort of response I will be looking at in the next game," a worried looking Baxter expressed his feelings about the inept approach his Team displayed on the night.

On the indifferent start to the campaign compared to the last season. Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the Mtn8 and TKO in the early rounds last season. The Amakhosi were on top of the log for the better part of the 2012/13 season and were eventually crowned the league Champions;

"This year we are not sticking together. We may be working hard but we work hard as individuals, so it fractures the Team. The consistency is nonexistent, and that gives our opponents a chance when they play against us this season. We need to stretch ourselves more.

I get over a victory very quickly and get worried for five days when we lost a game. That's how I am and that's me. We have got to look at ourselves. The players and the Coaching staff must look at our strengths. That's the response that I will be looking for in the next game. We must show we can do better with every kick of the ball." concluded Baxter.
