The Star, one of the oldest Daily Newspapers in Johannesburg, recently conducted a poll amongst its readers, affording them the opportunity to vote for their favourite business establishment. Voters were given the opportunity to poll for their favourite establishments classing them into three different categories namely best service, shopping, food drink and entertainment.

It was under the third Ballot Category where The Amakhosi won the title of the ‘Best Soccer Team’ voted for by Star readers, leading the way ahead of traditional rivals Orlando Pirates. This latest victory in a public opinion poll for Kaizer Chiefs follows one, which the club achieved towards the end of 2004, when The Sunday Times newspaper conducted an extensive brands and branding survey. In the Sunday Times poll Chiefs were voted by the public as the best sports team in the country, and were followed in the 2004 poll once more by Orlando Pirates.

The Star did not divulge details as to how many votes Chiefs polled in the six week long vote which began almost tow months ago, the club though would like to take this opportunity to thank all their fans for voting The Amakhosi as ‘The Star Your Choice 2006 Best Soccer Team’.
