Kaizer Chiefs enjoy a huge following in South Africa and across the borders. The Soweto Derby between archrivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates is not only the on field affair but it is also the talk of the town, the taxi ranks, bus stops, taverns and some even spare a thought about the Derby at the church meetings.

The Derby brings the best out of every soccer loving person. The supporters pull all the stops, to be seen in their favourite Club regalia.
This time the Amakhosi faithful will be seen wearing their Gold.Bold.Glamour home jersey across the lengths and breaths of Mzansi and the neighbouring SADC regional countries and beyond.

The Soweto Derby does not start and end with the referees stop watch. The game starts at home, at the work place and after the 90 minutes, the talk usually continues for as long as it can last. kaizerchiefs.com spoke to Sello Moropodi, from the Sedibeng Amakhosi Supporters Club, about his favourite Club and the Derby;

“I started following Chiefs when I was still in standard 5. My uncle persuaded me to follow Moroka Swallows but I elected to follow Chiefs.

Today after many years of the love for the Club, I remain a committed and dedicated Amakhosi 4 Life! I chose to support Chiefs for many reasons.

I remember when I first saw them play, it was against Moroka Swallows way back. I can remember it was in the early 80s when Chiefs lost 2 – 1 against Swallows, at George Goch Stadium, but the organisation and the way they played, made it easy for me to choose Chiefs as my favourite team for life”

Many Derbies have come and gone before this Saturday’s one. With the Derby, past records don’t matter. Saturday is a new ball game and my message is simple. This is our team. We love Chiefs, in good or bad times. Lose, draw or win, Chiefs will remain in our hearts. The players must know that we support them and wish them all the best on Saturday and beyond. We pray for them always. Here in Sedibeng Branch, 22 Mini Busses are ready to take N1-North. The Branch has prepared big screen views in Sebokeng, Saul Tsotetsi Hall,” concluded the upbeat Moropodi.

As innovation is key, Kaizer Chiefs and Vodacom, are once again the first with bringing exciting products to the fans, this week, Kaizer Chiefs fans will be introduced to the multiple benefits of the new Kaizer Chiefs starterpacks, which contain multiple benefits for customers and will ensure that they Connect 4 Life!
