The two Southern African sides meet in a FIFA international friendly at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Kick off is at 8:30pm.
“This is a big year, not only for us as a team but for the whole country. We cannot take anything for granted. Zimbabwe has proven over the years that they can be a force to be reckoned with. One only has to look at the players they have produced over the years. I know that my teammates in the Zimbabwean national team will be out to prove a point, but in all fairness no one wants to come second best when you pull on a national team jersey. For us we know it is very important that we build on the result against Swaziland last weekend,” said Khune speaking to kaizerchiefs.com all the way from Durban.
Bafana Bafana coach, Alberto Parriera gave Khune a run in the first half on Saturday in a 6-2 drubbing of neighbours Swaziland.
“It is always an honour to play for my country and I was waiting for this opportunity. The coach might look at other guys in the game against Zimbabwe on Wednesday and I will support them,” said Khune.
Meanwhile, “Spider Kid” as the player is affectionately known said his focus after Bafana Bafana camp is the last six games in the Absa Premiership.
“It is difficult not to think about the league title and what the fans are expecting on us. On Thursday, together with all the guys that will be playing tonight, we are going to unite towards one goal to put pressure on leaders, SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns,” he concluded.
