Legend, Vusi “Computer” Lamola believes that Kaizer Chiefs will have to improve tremendously if they harbour any hopes to win the championship this season.

The Glamour Boys have been impressive winning the Telkom Knockout, going through to the next round of lucrative MTN8 and had no problems brushing aside Golden Arrows in their opening league game of the season.

This week they travel to Maritzburg to face Maritzburg United and on Saturday they come face to face with archrivals, Orlando Pirates.

“Chiefs have been impressive without a doubt,” said Lamola at the event to honour midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala held at Changeroom in Soweto on Sunday night.

“I believe we have assembled a very good team capable of more silverware to Naturena this season. The guys look physically fit. One can tell though that some players are still not yet 100% match fit and the team should get better as the season progresses,” he told kaizerchiefs.com.

Lamola said Tshabalala, who was honoured for the goal he scored during the opening game of 2010 FIFA World Cup, is central to the Club’s hope this season, “He can take players on and can also score goals. I see the coach has been using him in a central role this season which I think is going to benefit the team,”

‘The General’ as Vusi Lamola was also affectionately known also paid a glowing tribute to Siphiwe Tshabalala’s teammate Reneilwe Letsholonyane, “I spoke to him. He is such a humble boy. Sometimes these boys forget who they are and where they come from. Reneilwe (Letsholonyane) is still very respectful and this is a sign for greatness. I have no doubt that he is going to achieve more with the team going forward,” concluded Lamola who marshaled Kaizer Chiefs midfield with aplomb in the early 70s to the early 80s.
