“Every team brings their A-game when they play against Kaizer Chiefs,” comments Erick ’Tower’ Mathoho ahead of Saturday’s clash against Chippa United. “Our preparations are going smoothly so far.”
Amakhosi and Chippa will lock horns as part of the finale of the 2015/16 Absa Premiership league fixtures on Saturday, 21 May.
“It is going to be a good game for the supporters to watch,” adds Mathoho who, together with Itumeleng ‘Spiderkid’ Khune, was named today in the Bafana Bafana squad to face Gambia in an 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier (4 June).
On his Bafana Bafana call-up, ‘Tower’ enthused: “Every national team call-up is special and appreciated. It is always a different kind of feeling. As a professional athlete, you always wait in anticipation to be selected for the national team. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent my country.”
The defender stresses, however, that his immediate focus is on Saturday’s game: “Chippa is coming to us at the back of a good win against Orlando Pirates. Their confidence must be sky high at the moment, but they visit us at the wrong time, as we want to finish the season on a high. There’s no team that wants to finish the league season with a loss.”
‘Tower’ encourages the supporters to be at FNB Stadium on Saturday: “Even though we didn’t collect any silverware this season, we received amazing support this season. We want to thank our supporters with a win on Saturday.”
All the PSL fixtures on Saturday will kick-off simultaneously at 15:00. Tickets for the match are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide at a cost of R40.
