It was a second win on a trot for the Amakhosi who moved to fourth spot in the Absa Premiership league standings and seven points behind log leaders, SuperSport United.
“This was a very important win for us,” said Vermezovic addressing the press conference after the game.
“We knew that Maritzburg were very dangerous in the second line and we conceded a goal on that situation - something I am going to talk to my players about.
This was never going to be an easy game as Maritzburg showed early this season in Soweto that they can be a force to be reckoned with. I am proud of my players today because despite the humid conditions here in Durban they gave a splendid performance,” he said.
“Vlad V” as the Serbian is known in football circles said they would continue to ‘take it one game at a time’.
“In this business you never stop thinking about winning the championship but for us like I said after the win against Bidvest Wits it is important to focus on our game. Football is a funny game and we will have to wait and see if SuperSport can keep up the pressure of being at the top,” concluded Vermezovic.
