Towering defender, Tefu Mashamaite insisted that the Glamour Boys are still in the running for Absa Premiership title this season following a 2-1 against Platinum Stars on Saturday evening.
Tefu replaced the young, Lincoln ‘Harare’ Zvasiya in the heart of defence and did a sterling job playing alongside experienced Dominic Isaacs.
“I have been working very hard and I was delighted to be given a chance against Platinum Stars. It was a tough game and we should all be pleased with the three points,” he told kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday morning.
“There are games where we are going to play well and win but there will be times where we are not going to play well and today the points were more important. We continue to take it one game at a time.
“Stars are a decent side with good players upfront. They have someone like Henrico Botes who is very good in the air and I think we did well as a collective to deal with the areal threat.
With seven games to go Mashamaite believes that the team can still challenge for the league honours this season.
“It was our objective to win the title this season and we still believe that we have a chance. If you look at the number of games and the points we have collected you will see that we are not far from the leading pack and we believe that we still have a chance to win the championship this season.
Tefu was making his first appearance for the team in 2012 might have impressed the Technical Team with his display; “I have not played for a while and I am pleased with my contribution against Stars. I will keep on working hard in training and if I am given another opportunity I will grab it with both hands,” added Mashamaite.
