“There are three points at stake and we definitely want to win,” says Siphiwe ‘Shabba’ Tshabalala about Saturday’s match against Ajax Cape Town in eTthekwini.
Kaizer Chiefs didn’t have a great run of form during the first half of the season, having collected only 19 points from 14 games, although we are still in third position on the Absa Premiership log.
“The league has been kind to us,” Tshabalala admits. “We dropped a lot of points, but we are still close to the log leaders. We just need to focus on ourselves.”
The 32-year-old feels that “consistency is key. We have a better chance to win the league if we are consistent”.
Amakhosi beat Platinum Stars 1-0 a week ago. ‘Shabba’ scored the winner. It was his 47th league goal as a Glamour Boys and his 57th overall, including cup and African Champions League matches.
Tshabalala has played in 348 games for Chiefs since making his debut in October 2007.
“To win a game, you have to score,” he says with a smile on his face about his crucial goal against Platinum Stars.
About the game against the Urban Warriors on Saturday night, he says: “We want to finish the year on a high. We have to start showing our intentions. We all know that we should have done better. Winning on Saturday will set us right for January, because if we will be able to win three to four games in a row we will challenge for a top position.”
Chiefs will host Ajax in an Absa Premiership fixture at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 16 December (kick-off is at 20:15).
Tickets are on sale at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide at a cost of R60.
