Tinashe Nengomasha was expecting to make a return to first team action on Friday evening when The Amakhosi were up against Amazulu, after he had missed Chiefs Nedbank Cup win over Ajax Cape Town. The Zimbabwean international was originally included in the starting eleven but had to be removed from the team moments before kick off, as he had injured his Achilles tendon during the warm up.

Amakhosi coach Muhsin Ertugral thereafter opted to move Jonathan Quartey into Tinashe’s role to fill in the void left by the general for the second game in succession. While Moketi Tsotetsi was brought up off the bench into the central defensive position and Mandla Masango who was in the stands at the Olympia Park Stadium, had to make his way to the substitutes enclave.

Tender issue

Nengomasha will now under go a scan early next week to determine the extent of his injury, which has saw him do damage to his Achilles tendon, which ruled him out of the Amazulu game just before kick off. Amakhosi physiotherapist David Milner explained to kaizerchiefs.com that the club will only have a clearer indication as to whether or not he will be available for the crucial Nedbank Cup match against Sundowns next Sunday some time on Tuesday.

Ertugral hopeful

In the mean time Muhsin Ertugral remains optimistic that he will have his midfield general available for selection on Sunday, the 2006 – 2007 Premier Soccer League coach of the season shared his positive feelings about the players expected availability for the Nedbank Cup match with kaizerchiefs.com and said. “The medical guys at this stage can not given us any certain answers, we are hoping though that it is not something serious and that he can start training again on Tuesday and be available for the match”.
