Maritzburg United will return to the FNB Stadium in a space of seven days to face Kaizer Chiefs in the 2014 Telkom Knockout Cup.

Despite dominating Maritzburg United last Saturday when the two met in the Absa Premiership, Chiefs narrowly won the encounter through an odd penalty kick goal. The contest of the past week makes the upcoming TKO match a must see for the fans.

“We would like to thank the Amakhosi family for attending the match in their numbers last Saturday. We have won the MTN 8 Cup and Q1 of the Q-innovation in a space of fifteen days. Maritzburg gave us a tough time last Saturday and also in the previous encounters but the great support from the Amakhosi family, will inspire the Glamour Boys in their quest to advance to the Last 8,” said Kaizer Chiefs Communications Manager, Vina Maphosa.

Kaizer Chiefs have won the TKO for a record thirteen times since the inception of the competition in 1982. In the current version backed by Telkom, Chiefs have won it three times. The last time Chiefs won the TKO was in 2010. Last season Chiefs lost in the semifinal to eventual winners Platinum Stars.

Tickets are selling at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide at a cost of R40 and R10 for adults and juveniles respectively.

Gates open at 17:00 and kickoff is at 20:15.
