It took patience to beat Arrows - Middendorp

“We spoke about patience at half time,” reflects Middendorp on his side’s last-minute winner against Lamontville Golden Arrow. “We have seen with the other teams as well; you cannot predict how they’ll approach us. The other day we played Cape Town City and noticed their change of formation compared to when they play other teams. We are well aware of these situations.”

Middendorp watched his side leaving it late to secure a win with the last kick of the match at Moses Mabhida on Saturday afternoon. Lebogang Manyama scored the winner with a half volley after Arrows’ goalie saved Samir Nurković’s attempt.

“We knew we had to manage the game until the end,” adds Middendorp, “I am happy we were patient. The match was not eye-catching, but the result is what we wanted.

“Kgotso Moleko was put under pressure and he worked his socks off. We pulled him out and brought in Reeve Frosler to stabilise the right back area. It was good to see Frosler returning and giving us the option of attacking from the flanks.

“Credit to Arrows - they are an organised side. They are a structured side hence we had to be patient in our approach. The goal is as a result patience. These are aspects that will come handy at this stage of the league.”
