The Top 8 competition was for the first time sponsored by MTN in 2008. In that year, Kaizer Chiefs beat Mamelodi Sundowns 4-3 on penalties. José Torrealba was one of the Amakhosi players who netted from the spot. The Venezuelan will on Saturday closely monitor the Twitter updates on @KaizerChiefs about the MTN8 final between Chiefs and Ajax Cape Town.

“I am still following Kaizer Chiefs,” Torrealba says. Talking about that MTN8 final in 2008, he comments: “How can I forget that? It was my first game against my former club Mamelodi Sundowns and that… in a Cup Final! It’s impossible to forget that one.”

Torrealba recently signed a contract back home with Trujillanos FC. However, the striker can’t play at present due to a knee injury, which the Venezuelan sustained during pre-season.

“I closely followed last year how Chiefs beat Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final,” the former Amakhosi striker adds. “It’s good to see how Chiefs play this year in the final again. It promises to be an absorbing clash against Ajax. Back in 2008, I played with Itumeleng Khune, Yeye Letsholonyane and Siphiwe Tshabalala. It’s fabulous to see how well they are still doing after all those years. I am fully behind the guys!”
