Amakhosi defender Jimmy Tau put in a man-of-the-match performance as he inspired Chiefs to a 2-0 victory on Saturday at the FNB Stadium, against his old club and the Amakhosi’s arch rivals Orlando Pirates.

The young defender has admitted that the thought of facing his old club in front of a huge crowd in Johannesburg was a daunting one, he had many sleepless nights in the past week and thanks to his team mates and coach got through the game unscathed. “When I left Pirates I knew this would be a tough game, I did not think that the days leading up to the game would have been so challenging,” said the young defender.

Jimmy said the job was made harder by the fact that Pirates were favorites for Saturday's game. “We had a tough couple of game, they are the log leaders so it made a bit worried, the coach and the rest of the team especially Patrick Mabedi, Fabian McCarthy Cyril Nzama and David Obua basically the defenders guided me along.”

Even Tau could not have scripted such a performance for himself which in his wildest imagination would have been far fetched. “When I came onto the field I only saw black and white when I looked left and right I saw gold and black that calmed me.

"Whenever I got the ball the Pirates supporters booed me, the Chiefs supporters drowned the boos with Cheers and that really lifted me for that I want to thank all the supporters for helping me through this game,” said an overwhelmed Tau.

Jimmy and the rest of the Chiefs team left the FNB Stadium on top of the world and headed for much deserved celebrations to savor this famous victory.
