The Toyota Cup heads to Durban this July for a heavyweight clash between Kaizer Chiefs FC and Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko SC. Set for Saturday, 26 July 2025, at Moses Mabhida Stadium, the fixture brings together two clubs with proud legacies, passionate fanbases, and a shared place in the heritage of African football.

The Toyota Cup made its debut in 2024 with Kaizer Chiefs hosting Tanzanian champions Young Africans SC in Bloemfontein. The annual event made a powerful debut, drawing a sold out stadium, passionate support from both sets of fans, and showcasing a clear enthusiasm for more cross-continental club clashes—firmly establishing its potential in its inaugural year.

“We are honoured to welcome our friends from Ghana to South African soil. Asante Kotoko are part of our shared history. The Toyota Cup allows Africa to unite through football and is a celebration of our legacy. Durban is not only the manufacturing hub of Toyota South Africa, but a perfect place to write the next chapter of our history after winning the Nedbank Cup in May at the Moses Mabhida Stadium,” says Jessica Motaung, Marketing and Commercial Director at Kaizer Chiefs.

“Mobility, possibility, and connection are not just pillars of this tournament - they are core to who we are at Toyota,” says Tasneem Lorgat, General Manager of Marketing and Communications at Toyota South Africa Motors. “The Toyota Cup brings people together, creates unforgettable moments, and celebrates the rich football heritage of our continent. It perfectly embodies this year’s theme: Africa Unites.”

Asante Kotoko are one of Africa’s most decorated clubs with 50 official trophies including two CAF Champions League titles.

“It is with great joy and anticipation that we come to South Africa for the 2025 edition of the Toyota Cup. Football has always been a powerful bridge between people and nations, and this event shows what is possible when sport is supported by vision and purpose. We are proud to be part of this celebration of African unity and commend Toyota and Kaizer Chiefs for setting the standard for what African football can be,” says Edmund Awuah Asafu-Adjaye (Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah), Chairman of Asante Kotoko SC.

SABC have come on board to televise this highly anticipated event to the millions of football loving supporters across the continent.

"The SABC is delighted to be partnering with Kaizer Chiefs, one of South Africa’s iconic and legendary football club.
