Kaizer Chiefs go into their Absa Premiership show down with Platinum Stars this evening looking to collect the three points on offer at the Rand Stadium, as a win over their visitors from Rustenburg could see Chiefs move up to second spot on the league table.

The Amakhosi have not been in action since the 26th of September when they faced Orlando Pirates in an MTN 8 Semi – final second leg clash while Platinum Stars last competitive outing was a 2-2 draw at home to Amazulu on the 22nd Of September in a league game.

Stars coach Owen Da Gama is not fazed by the fact that his team have not been in action for three weeks and has used the opportunity to see the likes of Edward Williams work their way back to form and fitness.

Chiefs and Stars have a healthy rivalry going back to the 2003 – 2004 season when Stars were first promoted to the PSL, last season the Amakhosi for the first time since they first met Stars in the PSL managed to record home and away wins over them in the same campaign.

Siphiwe Tshabalala who has scored in his last three league outings for Chiefs against Stars will be missing from the Amakhosi team that will face Stars on Saturday evening as he is nursing an injury that he picked up while away on international duty with Bafana Bafana last weekend.

So far this season Chiefs are unbeaten while Stars have lost two of their four games, Stars have played an exciting and attacking brand of football and have scored five goals in the four matches they have played.

In addition they have been particularly dangerous from set pieces, on the flip side for the North West Team is the fact that they have conceded eight goals through their four games.

The Amakhosi have in recent years managed to hold firm against Stars and have not lost a league game against them since the 2006 – 2007 season, over the last three seasons (2007 – 2008, 2008- 2009 & 2009 – 2010) Chiefs have won three of the six league clashes between the sides while three others have ended in draws.

Chiefs have also managed to find the back of the net eight times during the last four league encounters between the sides while conceding four goals against Stars during these clashes.

Kick off for Saturday evenings game is at 20:15
