Tsepo Masilela, the former Maccabi Haifa (Israel) player who also went on loan at the Spanish team, Getafe, played his first match for Kaizer Chiefs in the Macufe Cup against Bloemfontein Celtic over the weekend.

Masilela signed for the Club earlier in the 2012/13 PSL Season. The Mpumalanga born defender last kicked a ball during a World Cup qualifier where he sustained a knee injury when Bafana Bafana drew 1-1 with Ethiopia on the 03rd of June 2012 at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

Though Masilela played only in the first half of the game against Celtic, the fans were treated to the glimpses of excellence that still exists in the 27 year old left footer.

“It felt great to finally play my first game for Kaizer Chiefs. It will take time to regain match fitness but with a few more games I will regain my confidence and sharpness. It is a pity the season has moved into top gear already and there will be not much friendly games to play, I guess one has to play catch up with the moving train.”

The player who was in the Getafe team that lost 0-1 to Spanish giants Real Madrid on the 4th of February 2012 continued to share with kaizerchiefs.com his first game experience; “Jimmy (Jambo) is doing well at left back and the team had a great start to the season. I wish him and the team to continue doing well as I will be waiting patiently for my turn to make a contribution to the team going forward.”

Masilela paid tribute to the Amakhosi supporters; “I want to acknowledge the support that the fans give the team, and wish they keep supporting us even if we experience challenges during the course of the season. We must stick together as Amakhosi because we wouldn’t be where we are without their support.”

Speaking about his arrival at Amakhosi, Masilela was at smiles; “I was welcomed nicely by everyone at Kaizer Chiefs and would like to do my best to contribute to the team’s success,” added Masilela
