‘We had a great run before the break,’ says Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala on whether the two week FIFA-break might have affected the team’s rhythm.
‘The momentum was there. However, having this break is beyond our control.’ The Amakhosi face AmaTuks this Saturday afternoon at the FNB Stadium (kickoff at 3pm).
Tshabalala has been struggling with knee problems early this season. He is, however, fully fit now: ‘The break has given players like me, who have had injuries, the opportunity to get 100 percent fit again.’
The Amakhosi have at present 15 points from their five Absa Premiership matches played so far, while AmaTuks are on five points. The Pretoria-boys should, however, not be underestimated. On the other hand, Kaizer Chiefs is ready, despite the Big Derby (MTN8 final) looming in the background.
‘We are professionals,’ notes Tshabalala. ‘We will approach the game against AmaTuks like any other. There are three points at stake and, as a result, we are highly focussed. Only when the AmaTuks match is out of the way, we will start focussing on the Cup next week.’
The tickets for Kaizer Chiefs' match on Saturday, 13 September, can be bought at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide at a cost of R40. Children get in for R10. Gates open at 12:00 (kickoff at 15:00).
