Tshabalala warns his teammates over Stars

Siphiwe Tshabalala has warned his teammates to raise their game ahead of the potential thrilling Telkom Knockout Last 16 match at Royal Bafokeng this coming Sunday.

The two sides have both won the cup, with the Glamour Boys winning it three times (two in a row) and Platinum Stars winning it back in 2006.

“They will be playing at home and they will not make things easy for us. We will need to raise our game if we are to come back with a result. They gave us few problems the last time we went there, although we ended up coming back with the result. (The Glamour Boys were forced to come back from behind to beat Stars 3-2 in the league last season).

Tshabalala said that as a team they want to defend the cup and be the first to win it three times in a row.

“We are going all out to defend the trophy that is the most important thing for us as a team. If we defend, it will be the first team to win it thrice in a row. We made history in the same cup in 2010 when we won it twice, so anything is possible.

Shabba told kaizerchiefs.com that he was pleased with the team’s depth this year.

“It showed on Sunday when some of the senior players were not in the team and the players who came did the business. Our bench is stronger, which that makes us stronger this season.”

Shabba, who took time earlier on Thursday to entertain the young Ofentse Molefe from Mamelodi who had visited him, played an integral part in 2010 as the Glamour Boys beat Orlando Pirates by 3-0 to win the Telkom Knockout in front of a packed FNB Stadium.
