The 25 year old defender came up trumps in the tenth minute of the match when he got in behind Amakhosi goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune to head clear what looked like a certain goal after the Chiefs keeper was lobbed when coming off his line early in the match.
Tsotetsi was also buoyed by the fact that Chiefs put up a better showing against Cosmos than they did when going down 1-0 to Thanda Royal in midweek. The improved performance has given Tsotetsi a lot to be confident about going forward. He does though feel that Chiefs still have a lot of work to do over the next day or two ahead of their next match against BidVest Wits this coming Wednesday evening.
Collective effort
After the defeat to Thanda Royal Tsotetsi tells kaizerchiefs.com that each player had to take it upon himself to improve his individual performance for the next match and he believes that they did.
The former Cosmos defender had this to say: “To get back to playing at our best each guy needed to put in some extra effort, firstly in training and then on the match. I do think that with the guys lifting their game individually, it lead to a better team effort against Cosmos, we will carry that sound performance with us into the next match”.
Solutions
Coming out of the Cosmos match was not ideal for Chiefs who were hoping to leave Orkney with three points and the task for Chiefs now is to work on improving their obvious failings from the Cosmos encounter, which was their inability to find the target even though they did create numerous goal-scoring opportunities.
On this Tsotetsi said “Obviously we did not want to draw the match, hopefully we'll get a better result against Wits in a few days time. For us to do that we need to play like we did against Cosmos, but we need to turn our opportunities and possession in to goals. Against Thanda we might not have created many chances, but against Cosmos we did and were unable to make them count that is definitely something we need to look at improving”.
Clean sheet aim
While Tsotetsi has lamented the fact that Chiefs were unable to convert any of their chances on Sunday, he also said that in order for him to leave each game with some sort of self fulfillment, knowing that he has contributed to the teams overall success, is to ensure that they keep as many clean sheets as possible from now to the end of the season.
He concluded by saying, “My side of the deal is to make sure we go as many games as we can with out conceding any goals. If we are able to prevent the opposition from scoring then things will go right for us on the other end of the field”.
