The KC Roadshow moved to Uitenhage’s KwaNobuhle Complex Mall today. The event was held at the parking area in front of the Shoprite. It turned out to be a huge festival with the area coloured in Gold and Black.
“It is amazing,” reacts Wanda Jack, who is the chairman of Chiefs’ Uitenhage Supporters Branch. “We love the Club so much, but looking at all these people… This is even better than we expected or hoped for. This is magnificent.”
The crowd even managed to find a higher gear in showing their enthusiasm when some Amakhosi players arrived, including Brilliant Khuzwayo, Daniel Cardoso, Simphiwe Mtsweni and Philani Cele.
Chiefs’ partner Vodacom was present to promote their starter packs, while KC Retail, KC Mobile and KC Insurance were also kept busy.
Jack recalled the first game that he remembers seeing Amakhosi in 1982. ‘We beat Moroka Swallows,” he reflects. “I have been a Chiefs supporter since I was born.”
Uitenhage’s Supporters Branch Chairman also enthusiastically talks about how Chiefs’ Under-19s, coached at the time by the legendary Ryder Mofokeng, came to play a game in the area.
And now all the fans are awaiting the MTN8 final between Amakhosi and Ajax Cape Town which will take place tomorrow. The game will be played at Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (kick-off is at 15:00).
