Masango was on target in his inaugural game for the South Africa u-23 team this past weekend during a 2-1 win on Friday over Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, “something’s just happen you don’t actually plan for them” the midfielder explained to kaizerchiefs.com.
“It does feel good to have achieved a unique feat by scoring in my first game for every one of the junior national teams” he further explained Masango.
The fleeted footed Masango who also famously scored on his official debut for Chiefs in the opening game of the 2007 – 2008 PSL Season, is using the boost gained from impressing for the national U-23 team to help The Amakhosi pick up three points when they face Maritzburg United in an Absa Premiership match on Wednesday evening.
“I am committed to winning every game that I play in and also to playing consistently at a high level in each game, my aims is for my input to be of benefit to my team” divulged Masango.
Commenting specifically on Chiefs next game against Maritzburg United he warned that they will have to be on their guard as United lost their previous match and will be looking for redemption, “it’s difficult to come up against and especially dangerous to underestimate a team that have just lost a game as they will come into this match more determined to win” explained Masango.
Last season when The Amakhosi and Maritzburg met the visiting team won each of the encounters, Masango believes that what transpired last season will have no bearing on the outcome of tomorrow evenings game.
Of this Masango added, “we cannot look at the history of last season and think that it can have any say on this game, what we have to do is make sure we do not give them the opportunity to score. We need to get out there and be clinical in all areas from the start and do our job in a good way and hopefully that will ensure that we will be successful in this match”.
